About

While the rest of world is rallying to stop climate change, the United States stands alone in opposition. This is a moment of reckoning for all Americans. We must decide who we are, and what we stand for.

Youth at the Peoples Climate March

While the rest of world is rallying to stop climate change, the United States stands alone in opposition.

Washington has fallen into the hands of Big Oil’s lobbyists, lawyers and executives, all of them dead-set on profiting from pollution. Following their advice, Donald Trump pulled out of the Paris agreement.

This November, world leaders are meeting to decide what happens next now that the U.S. has withdrawn from Paris. As the nations of the world prepare to gather at the UN Climate Negotiations to move forward with the Paris Agreement, the rest of us have a choice to make.

This is a moment of reckoning for all Americans. We must decide who we are, and what we stand for.

Will we stand aside as Trump, Tillerson, and co. lead us down the path to disaster? Or will we stand up for the billions of people threatened by climate change?

Between now and November 18, we’re getting in touch with everything that’s at stake.

We’re collecting objects for the “Climate Legacy Time Capsule.” You are invited to contribute “Something you love and are fighting to protect.”

Or, you can write a letter to the future.

This is an unexpected and fun way to get your community talking about climate change. Sign up here to be a time capsule “collection captain” in your community.

Politicians have until November 18 to decide their climate legacy.

Our elected officials are invited to contribute to the time capsules, just like anyone else.

There’s only one condition: they must agree to uphold the Paris agreement, and back it up by committing to 100% renewable energy and an end to fossil fuel development in their city or state.

For all who refuse to uphold Paris...we’ll put a record of their position in the time capsule. It won’t be pretty.

November 18 is the “Day of Dedication”. We’ll dedicate the time capsule, and dedicate ourselves to fighting for a better world.

There has never been an event quite like this. You don’t want to miss it.

We’ll gather at state capitols and city halls around the country, and seal the time capsules.

The time capsules will be opened in 50 years, November 2067. What kind of world will they be opened in? That’s up to us.

The Climate Legacy Time Capsule Project

As the first international climate talks of the Trump era draw to a close, we’ll gather at state capitols and city halls around the country, and seal our time capsules. How will you be remembered?
